Too poor to highlight my hair...?

I really don't have enough money to go to a salon and my hair is highlighted. if I do it at home, what are some of the best at home products (all over color, I think highlighting will be too complicated) that I can do at home, and how do I choose the right color?

the store will have a sample of what it will look like. you should choose a color that works for you. bring a mirror when your choosing at the store, and try to image the color your choosing in your hair. they have charts on the box too, to tell you what it'll look like in your hair color. like blond: brighter results, brown, darker, ect. if you have very dark hair you should bleach it too. im not sure where you can buy hair bleach.

it wont get messy at home if you follow the instructions, use the gloves and wear protective clothing, like and apron or a huge sweater that you dont mid getting dirty, because hair dye will stain.

and your arms might get tired, and it might smell. but its much much cheaper than the salon. so i would do it at home.

i dont know any good hair coloring brands, i only colored my hair once.
