So my friend went to school for this stuff but works at a place she can only cut hair n not color...but she offered to color mine at home(think i should?)...my hair is light brown/dark blonde...and the color seems boring to me, never colored it before... so would it look good just to put like blonde highlights or what would look good??? thanks!

Highlights always brighten and freshen up your look as long as you use the right color. If your hair is dark blonde/light brown, any blonde hightlights will look good. You can do thin hightlights all through your hair with some chunky in the front.
As long as your friend was taught how to do foils properly, go for it. Do not use a cap on long hair.

If she can't colour, I don't think that'd be a good idea, jusr get it done at a salon with someone who is a professional.

maybe some caramel or some dirty blonde in but if she dont ever color u shuldnt let her go 2 a professional
