what color/brand/type should I use?
. My hair is med brown which has reddish/blondish natural highlights in the summer. I did have my hair highligted once in the salon - they were going to do mocha and it came out almost white! Got that fixed and it has since grown out. What do you recommend brand wise? I have medium length wavy curly layered baby fine hair.It gets real mousy in the winter. Any other tips - I also want it to look natural. Thanks!
Highlighting my Hair at Home. What the best brand and..?
I just did mine last weekend, and it sounds like our hair color and type is similar. I used L'Oreal Highlight Styliste in Amber Glaze, and I only did the top layer of hair so my brown hair would still be the dominant color (I like darker hair for winter). I think it turned out really well. One piece of advice I have for you is to follow the directions implicitly, as I got a bit impatient and started using my fingers instead of the little brush tool thingy to do the highlights, and one side of my head got a bit chunkier with the highlights than I had planned. Also, if your hair is super-fine, I wouldn't leave it in for the full 30 minutes that the directions say. You should check it after 15 min. to see how light it got, and if it's the perfect color, just wash it out then instead of waiting. Good luck- I'm sure you'll look marvelous!

Be careful using home colour. Try to use one without ammonia.

ok well first of all i am a lisenced hair dresser and you should never do an at home highlighting by your self make sure you have someone there to supervise. NEVER use blondisma you never know what colour your hair is going to turn out especially cause you have natural red tones in your hair. But if you absolutly have to do it yourself make sure you grab a frosting kit that is for fine hair. keep a very close eye on it so that you can actually wash it off when its at the desired colour. Its betterto have some one there so you dont end up with falling out white hair again GOOD LUCK

I would never recommend anyone to do home highlights unless you know a professional that could help you. When you apply bleach on med. brown hair and you're not using a strong enough developer your hair will not lift enough and therefore it will be brassy. A professional would then use a toner, but if you're doing it at home, you're stuck.
Sometimes you end up paying alot more money to fix it than you would've if you had it done right at a salon.
Good luck.

I strongly recomend not doing this yourself, your hair type and color can be difficult and a whole lot of errors can occur. Plus if you put bleach over any of the hair that was previously highlighted it could break and most probably will due to your hair texture. I suggest you go to a pro for a free consultation or find someone who's hair you like and ask them who does their hair. Most reputable hairdressers will give you a free consultation.

I have been using L'Oreal Highlights and always have good results. I had it done by the hairdresser and did not like the way it came out. I really like the L'Oreal better. I love the way my hair comes out when I use it and its easy. But I always have to make sure someone is around to help me with the back of my head! But I do love L'oreal and I get what I want because you can control how many highlights you get.
