What color should i highlight my hair??

I have light brown shoulder length hair ( like my avatar)and i want to put highlights in my hair ...what unnatural color will look the best?? what natural color will look the best??? would red look good??

note: i don't want to have to bleach my hair before i highlight it because it's just a summer thing and i have asian eyes ( if that should be taken into account)
