Can you colour over highlights?

Hi I was wondering if anybody could help me, I have been having my hair highlighted for approximately two years and usually have a high lift tint of 12- 0, 12- 1, on half a head. Recently my hair began to look very chunky and block like so my hairdresser recommended I have some of my natural colour put in my hair (this is 7 0, and is like a browny colour) However it seems as though too much of the brown has been put in and my hair seems pretty dark. I am wondering whether next time I go the hairdressers, will they be able to just add more high lift tint too my hair and colour over the brown they put in last time.

the areas that were highlighted will naturally fade over just a few weeks and your hair will have a nice multi tone to it.

to speed up the process spend a little time in the sun, it will lighten the areas quicker, wear sunblock on your skin though.

hairdressers can pretty much do whatever you want - if the 1 you go to says they can't, I suggest you see someone else.

they'll appear lighter, brighter or both. Just how light and bright? That depends on your highlights. Some women get very subtle streaks just a shade lighter than their base color, while others go for bold chunks much lighter than their base color. Therefore, when shopping for an at-home hair color product, base your shade selection not on your base color but on your highlights. Don't try to go lighter -- match, redden or deepen the tone you already have

Yeah they will easily be able to lighten the extra brown bits, easy peasy!! I had it done.

i would try getting a weave, ask your hair dresser what they think and get a second opponion, weaves look more natural then just highlights and low lights. you can get a one color , two color or even 3 color weave. they always look really good.

Yes they can do that. I've had it done before, it turned out just fine.

I have had this done. Have your hair dresser strip all the old color out of your hair. Then wait about 2 weeks and just start all over. It works the best cause it gives your hair some time to heal after being striped
